Ali Sarkeshik Born and raised in Tehran, Ali Sarkeshik moved to England to study and gained a degree in Mathematics from the University of London. He started out as a high stakes Gin Rummy player but, as the bigger games in London grew scarce, he decided to try his hand at poker. With the support of his family, Ali began by playing high stakes Pot-Limit Omaha. He quickly learned that good money management is an essential ingredient for success. After losing in the first few sessions, Ali researched the game and built his bankroll by gradually working his way up the limits.

Known for being a fearless ring-game player, Ali has also been successful on the tournament scene, making final tables across Europe and the US. He experienced his first big tournament win in 1996 when he finished 1st at the 1996 Spring Tournament No-Limit Hold ‘em event in Paris, winning over $33K. In 2004, he won the €5,000 Limit Hold 'em event at the Rendezvous a Paris, earning more than $72K in prize money. In 2007, Ali won over $37K by placing 4th in the €3,000 No-Limit Hold ‘em event in The Hold' em Series in Paris. 2008 saw Ali place 2nd in the $2,000 No-Limit Hold ‘em event at the Las Vegas Carnival of Poker, winning $48,500. He’s also been successful at the World Series of Poker, cashing in five events throughout his career. All told, Ali has over $570K in career tournament earnings.

During his poker career, Ali has played against many well known pros, including Team Full Tilt’s Mike Matusow. When he’s not playing poker, Ali is an avid snooker fan. He also played soccer for several years in the London amateur leagues and continues to follow the sport with a passion.
