Steve Wong began playing poker in 2004 after watching his cousin win the Master Classics of Poker Main Event in The Netherlands. He gradually built his bankroll by playing $0.25-$0.50 Limit Hold ‘em ring games online before moving on to live tournaments. Steve decided to turn pro in 2006 and hasn’t looked back since.
Steve’s first memorable tournament was in 2005 when he won his first WSOP entry and cashed in the $3,000 No-Limit Hold 'em event. His first major cash came in 2006 when he placed 4th in the WSOP $1,000 No-Limit Hold 'em event for over $160K. Later that year, Steve had an impressive run at the Festa Al Lago V when he won the $5,000 No-Limit Hold 'em event for almost $200K. Even more impressively, Steve finished 2nd in the Main Event for over half a million dollars. In the same year, he also won the $2,500 No-Limit Hold 'em event in the Fifth Annual Five Diamond World Poker Classic which made Steve the 20th person ever to become a Bellagio Millionaire.
At the 2008 WPT World Championship Steve won the $2,500 Super Satellite event for $25K and placed 31st in the $25,000 No-Limit Hold 'em Championship Event, winning over $65K. All told, Steve has accumulated over $1.5 million in Career Tournament Earnings. He is also currently 3rd on The Netherlands All Time Money List.
