Full Tilt Poker's Jens Voertmann Wins WSOP $3K HORSE Event
Dublin, Ireland
Voertmann bests elite field to claim his first WSOP bracelet
Full Tilt Poker's professional players continue to shine at the 2008 World Series of Poker, with Jens Voertmann claiming his first career bracelet in the $3K HORSE tournament. Voertmann's win marks the fifth time a Full Tilt Poker pro has claimed a bracelet during this year's WSOP.
As has been common during this year's series, the final table of the 414-player event included some of the best known players in poker, including Marcel Luske, Hoyt Corkins, Team Full Tilt's Jennifer Harman, and Full Tilt Poker's Steve Zolotow. In the end however, it was Voertmann who weathered four hours of three-handed play before Marcel Luske busted in third, putting Voertmann heads-up with Doug Ganger.
Heads-up play lasted just one hand with Voertmann catching a Jack on Seventh Street to make two pair Jacks and 5s, which bested Ganger's 8s and 9s. The hand gave Voertmann the title and the $298,253 first-place prize. Fellow Full Tilt Poker pro Steve Zolotow finished the event in sixth place, taking home nearly $48,000, while Team Full Tilt's Jennifer Harman earned nearly $31,000 for her eighth-place finish. This is the fifth bracelet for the Full Tilt Pros.
"By besting a very tough final table in a game that requires all-around skill in many games, Jens arrived on the WSOP stage in smashing fashion," said Team Full Tilt member Howard Lederer.
