Erik Cajelais started out playing poker with his older brother and a few friends. He developed a passion for the game and dedicated his time to honing his poker skills and becoming a pro.

For his pro debut, Erik reached the final table at the WPT Borgata Poker Open’s $1K No-Limit Hold ‘em Championship. He finished in eighth place and took home over $11K. Erik followed this up with a solid cash finish in the 2005 WPT World Poker Finals, going deep in the $10K No-Limit Hold ‘em event to win over $12K.

Erik’s first WSOP appearance came in 2006 in the $5K No-Limit Hold ‘em event. From a starting field of over 600 players, he finished in 19th place for more than $14K. He rounded out 2006 with three more WPT cash finishes and a first place finish at the WPT Five Diamond Classic at the Bellagio for a $405K payday.

In 2007, Erik had several cash finishes, including two final tables at championship events and a strong showing at the WSOP where he took second in the $5K Pot-Limit Omaha event, facing the likes of Team Full Tilt’s John Juanda at the final table. For his efforts, he was rewarded with $483K.

At the 2009 WSOP Europe in London, Erik won his first WSOP bracelet in the $2.5K Pot-Limit Omaha/Pot-Limit Hold ‘em event. After starting the final table seventh in chips, he picked up several big pots and went on to dominate the table for the final hour of play, eventually winning with a full house in a Pot-Limit Omaha hand. He walked away with over $169K, boosting his career tournament earnings to almost $1.7 million.
