Team Full Tilt’s Erik Seidel tops the All-Time Money List
Dublin, Ireland
Poker Hall of Fame inductee wins $750,000 first prize at the NBC National Heads-Up Championship
Erik Seidel has moved to the top of the all-time career tournament money list with a win at the 2011 NBC National Heads-Up Championship. The Team Full Tilt member emerged victorious after six rounds of heads-up poker to capture the $750,000 first prize, which pushes Seidel’s career tournament earnings total past $14.6 million.
This year’s star-studded field of 64 included Team Full Tilt’s Andy Bloch, John Juanda, Erick Lindgren, Phil Ivey, Patrik Antonius and Chris Ferguson. A variety of former WSOP* champions, poker greats and National Football League legend Emmitt Smith, the latest Friend of FullTiltPoker, also competed.
Seidel defeated Team Full Tilt members Allen Cunningham, Jennifer Harman and Phil Gordon on his way to a final match against 2003 WSOP* main event champion Chris Moneymaker. In the best-of-three match, Seidel quickly took control of the first Texas Hold’em match when his top-pair beat a straight-draw that missed the turn and river. The second game took longer to decide, with Seidel’s trip fives ultimately holding up to win the match 2-0 and snag the title.
The win is the latest in a string of impressive performances, as Seidel has recorded more than $4.3 million in tournament cashes in 2011 alone. In addition to his most recent victory, the Poker Hall of Fame inductee has notched up wins in the $250K Super High Roller event at the Aussie Millions for $2.4 million and the $25,000 High Roller event at the L.A. Poker Classic for $144,500, with four final table appearances achieved in other major tournaments this year.
