Full Tilt Poker's Million Pound Challenge Pays Out £200,000 in London

Dublin, Ireland

Rising poker superstar Adam Noone takes home top prize after beating two of the world's best

Taking place on September 15th and 16th, 2008, Full Tilt Poker’s Million Pound Challenge brought 80 online qualifiers to the Hellenic Centre in London for the chance to win £1 million.

Players qualified for the Million Pound Challenge by taking part in a series of online freerolls at FullTiltPoker.com. Of the 7,892 participants, the top 80 were awarded $1,000 in spending money, as well as a seat in the No-Limit Hold ‘em tournament at the live event in London. The winner of the tournament would earn the opportunity to take on Team Full Tilt’s Phil Ivey and Chris Ferguson, as well as Full Tilt Poker pro Roland de Wolfe in a series of heads-up matches for the £1 million grand prize.

The first day of the Million Pound Challenge took place on September 15th, with the 80 qualifiers playing down to a final table of six players. The action resumed on September 16th as the final table played out and was won by Adam Noone, a part-time professional poker player who won £50,000 for beating all 80 qualifiers.

Noone then played the three Full Tilt Poker pros heads up, for the chance to win the £1 million grand prize if he won each match. Starting off determined, he took down his first match versus Phil Ivey winning an additional £50,000. He then bested 2008 National Heads-Up Poker Champion Chris Ferguson for another £100,000. However, his winning streak came to an end when his skills failed him against Roland de Wolfe (the first poker pro to win both the WPT and EPT titles.) In the end, Adam Noone won £200,000 and bragging rights at the Million Pound Challenge for beating two out of the three world-renowned pros.

Adam finished 209th in the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event, earning more than $50,000, and is also a frequent contributor to TheHendonMob.com, an online poker database and information center.
