Full Tilt Poker Series – España 2010 Recap
With almost 700 players competing for more than €1.3 million in prize money and a Grand Final first place prize of €150K, the Full Tilt Poker Series – España 2010 maintained its reputation as the best poker tournament series in Spain.
The series kicked off in Gerona in April 2010, with 128 players battling for a total prize pool of €192K. Pedro Javier Piazuelo took down the top prize – along with the bounty on Full Tilt Poker pro Raul ‘El Toro’ Paez – after a heads-up battle with Cardplayer Italia director Massimiliano Lupi. Rubén Velasco became the first player in Series España history to reach the podium twice, adding a third place finish in the event to his win in the opening 2009 Series España event.
The next stop was Malaga in June, where 131 players travelled to the Costa del Sol for a shot at the €196K prize pool. Luigi Tantari became the first non-Spanish player to take down a Series España event, pocketing €60,000 for the win.
The series then moved to the Casino Gran Madrid in August, where over 200 players competed for their share of the €348K prize pool. Rubén Velasco continued his outstanding run of Series España results by taking the €110K top prize and becoming the first player in series history to reach three consecutive final tables.
In December, the series wrapped up in Barcelona with the Grand Final, in which 194 players fought for their share of the €590K total prize pool. Belgium’s Kevin Vandermissen claimed the top prize after qualifying for the event online at Full Tilt Poker. The 22-year-old took home €150K for the victory.
