Hans Martin Vogl didn’t get into poker until the summer of 2004. While on vacation, he watched a televised poker tournament and was immediately hooked. As soon as he got home, the tax expert focused his analytical math background on another endeavour: playing poker online.
After developing his skills online, Hans played in live tournaments in his native Germany. He did well for himself, and developed an impressive record. Hungry for something bigger, he made the decision to take his game on the road. In 2006, Hans made the trip to Singapore for the Betfair Asian Poker Tour. Of the 300+ competitors in the $4.8K No-Limit Hold ‘em main event, he worked his way to the final table and took home over $58K for 7th place.
Spurred on by success, Hans found himself Down Under for the 2007 Aussie Millions, where he proved his mettle yet again in the $10K No-Limit Hold ‘em main event. Hans battled through a tough field to a tougher final table, competing against the likes of Gus Hansen and Andy Black. For his effort and skill, he took 5th place and $318K.
