  • QUESTION FROM FernandezAlejo: why do you play plo instead of holdem

ANSWER FROM Ryan Daut: i play both, but i think there are less very good players in plo than holdem

ANSWER FROM Ryan Daut: online takes adjustments. there are much better players in the games than there are live. id suggest joining a training site like cardrunners. you can join for free if you play enough on full tilt: http://www.trulyfreepokertraining.com/

  • QUESTION FROM Wayne765: Hi was looking for advice with playing online when i play live in casino i seem to do pretty well but once i play online never seems to happen for me

  • QUESTION FROM FernandezAlejo: and which is the best plo player in the world?

ANSWER FROM Ryan Daut: phil galfond is the best in my opinion. but ivey, harrington25, benyamine, the dang brothers and a few others are up there

  • QUESTION FROM robonfire: what is the secret to winning tournys

ANSWER FROM Ryan Daut: ak > 22

  • QUESTION FROM stoogee1: Hi Ryan. Could you please tell me what % 10 outs is if goin for a river card draw and do % change with the number of seats at table ie 6 seater or 9 seater

ANSWER FROM Ryan Daut: number of players is irrelevant as their cards are unknown. there are 44 cards left in the deck and 10 help you, then you are 10/44 or about 23%

  • QUESTION FROM dreDubs2: how did you get started in poker? did you make a deposit online and grind it up or just cash in a decent size tourney to start your BR rollin?

ANSWER FROM Ryan Daut: put 50 bucks on, grinded it up playing cash. didnt win more than 7k in a tournament til i had over 100k

  • QUESTION FROM Wayne765: ok thanks, easier to read people live to rather than a screen, ill check out the site though, thanks

ANSWER FROM Ryan Daut: learning how to play your own cards well and being able to read hands from how a hand was played is much more important than being able to read if someone is strong or weak

  • QUESTION FROM MrPeepers1: 6max or full ring....how many hours a week did you put in when you were grinding it up to 100k?

ANSWER FROM Ryan Daut: ok me 6 months to turn 50 into 500 playing small limit holdem, then switched to nl. took me 6 months to turn 500 into 3000. then ~8 months of 15 hours a week later i had 100k just grinding it up.

  • QUESTION FROM dreDubs2: how long did it take you to grind that up? did you use pretty aggressive BRM?

ANSWER FROM Ryan Daut: when i first started NL id move up everytime i had 15 buyins for a limit. this worked until i hit 1/2 and had downswings. 30 buyins worked until i hit 10/20, when i had a 25k downswing. then i used 50 buyins to be safe

ANSWER FROM Ryan Daut: but you still have to be a winner in a game for that to work. things are much tougher now, so while i have over 200 buyins for 25/50 games, i wont play in them unless they are easier than usual because those players are really tough

ANSWER FROM Ryan Daut: FL teaches you to be very aggressive and get full value from your hands. but limit games are very different from big bet games, so if you want to learn NL or PLO play those games

  • QUESTION FROM stoogee1: can playing FL games improve my game and what can i get from these games?

  • QUESTION FROM loosernut: hi how long were you playing poker before you were a winning player?

ANSWER FROM Ryan Daut: i actually never lost my first deposit. i broke even on the 50 bucks for a couple weeks, but didnt take me long to figure out if i played really tight id just consistently win at low stakes

  • QUESTION FROM MrPeepers1: thanks! how long ago was this Ryan, i know the game online has gotten much tougher in the past few years

ANSWER FROM Ryan Daut: i think my first deposit was in the summer of 2004. i grinded it up to 500 bucks by december of 2004, but then stopped playing when school started in january and i got a girlfriend. really started playing a lot summer 2005

  • QUESTION FROM loosernut: whats the biggest lesson you have learnt since you started playing?

ANSWER FROM Ryan Daut: ankroll management and tilt control are the two most important things for professional players to have, besides being a good poker player

  • QUESTION FROM Anabelen55: can you give advice how to start a daily poker sessions, and what style would be the most profitable

ANSWER FROM Ryan Daut: depends what you want to play, but if youre just starting out, put 50 bucks online and play .01/.02 and play very tight until you learn the game

  • QUESTION FROM loosernut: do u think anyone that puts in the effort can win at poker or do u think certain people just see the game better?

ANSWER FROM Ryan Daut: its easy to be a winner in poker but its not easy to be a big winner. im confident i can teach anyone to make 5 dollars an hour from scratch in less than 50 hours of teaching. but bigger games are harder, so its tough to move up and win a lot

  • QUESTION FROM Anabelen55: but how to avoid getting on tilt?

ANSWER FROM Ryan Daut: breathing/exercise/meditation can help. and just realize that there is luck involved in any given hand so its possible to lose in situations where you are 75% a few times in a row

ANSWER FROM Ryan Daut: en ingles por favor

  • QUESTION FROM loosernut: how do you fiure out if its just a downswing or youre just playing the hands wrong?!!!!!

ANSWER FROM Ryan Daut: talk to good players, read forums, watch videos, theres a lot of things you can do to make sure you are thinking about things in line with what other good players are doing. if you are then its probably just some bad luck

  • QUESTION FROM dannypyeah: ive read tonns of books, read forums vids etc but it seems to come down to luck, like 35% off best hands pre flop flips, lose on this site so sick

ANSWER FROM Ryan Daut: poker is about taking small edges hundreds of thousands of times. casinos have a 2-3% edge but just play an infinite sample size and make infinite money. but there are definitely gamblers that walk away with lots of money from them even though they

ANSWER FROM Ryan Daut: expect to lose. in poker you are the casino

  • QUESTION FROM ADDICTED-TO-PKR: dont know what you mean with 'push fold'. is that easy to tell me or should i look it up somewhere?

ANSWER FROM Ryan Daut: say you have 10bb and you are UTG. you should be going allin with 14.8%, 33+ A9s+ A5s AJo+ K9s+ KJo+ Q9s+ J9s+ T9s. you should never raise normally or call or anything, just go allin with every hand you play

  • QUESTION FROM EurasiaN: Hello, Ryan! How much time did it take you to become a good player on high stakes?

ANSWER FROM Ryan Daut: i dont really even play high stakes anymore. i guess i do in tournaments, but in cash games i no longer play above 5/10 unless the games are very very good. its just too many good players nowadays and there are too many easy games out there for me to br

  • QUESTION FROM sowelatino: when you are playin but not winning alot that means that poker is not for me or should i just have to wait or quit poker

ANSWER FROM Ryan Daut: poker is a tough way to make an easy living. its not for everyone. there are 2 reasons to play poker: either its fun, or its your job. if its neither then its probably not worth playing, but as long as you have fun and dont lose your ass keep on trying!
