Mikael Oestreicher plays online at Full Tilt Poker

Mikael started playing draw poker with friends while growing up in Metz, France. At first, he played for fun, but then he caught a game of Texas Hold ’em on TV. Inspired by what he saw, he started taking poker more seriously.
While in college studying for a sales degree, he started playing freerolls online, building up his bankroll and improving his skill along the way. He became a prolific online player and performed impressively in some of Full Tilt Poker’s biggest tournaments.
Mikael got a taste for cash games after he sat down at a table while on vacation in Vegas. The experience in Vegas made a strong impression on him and he decided that the life of a professional poker player was the life for him.
In 2009, he started entering bigger online tournaments to great success. That February, he won Event #3 at FTOPS XI, pocketing $27,500. He followed this up with a third place finish in the $750K Sunday Guarantee in March, earning $55K.
In June 2009, Mikael finished second in the Sunday Mulligan, winning $32K. He went one better in May 2010, this time winning the Sunday Mulligan to take home $47K.
According to Mikael, patience and taking controlled risks are the key elements to success in poker. He believes new players should alternate which games they play to become skilled at every aspect of poker.
Away from the tables, Mikael is a soccer fan and likes to travel.
