Roberto is a renowned writer and director of Spanish cinema. His films include “The Longest Penalty in the World”, “Al final del Camino” and “Ivan’s Dream”. He is also behind the first major European poker movie, “Without Limits”.
Away from the camera, Roberto’s two passions are poker and soccer.
Roberto has been playing poker with friends since high school and has been a regular at the tables ever since. After playing in a tournament in 2008, he vowed to make a film about poker and play as often as his schedule would allow. A man of his word, he has achieved both goals.
His commitment to playing more regularly was rewarded with several final table appearances at tournaments throughout Spain. In May 2010, Roberto reached the final table at the WPT Barcelona. The €3,200 buy-in event attracted a field of 326 players from around the world, and Roberto’s spectacular run was like a plot from one of his own movies. His second place finish earned him €139K ($171K). In 2011, he reached the final table at one of the side events of the Madrid leg of the Full Tilt Poker Series – España, finishing in 7th place.
