Marco Liesy

Marco learned to play poker by watching his father. After a few months, he had picked up the basics and started playing on his own. Working as an apprentice to a commercial salesman by day, Marco spent his evenings developing his game. As he gained experience, his skill developed and he became very successful.

Marco has an impressive record on the European tournament circuit. He’s made multiple cash finishes – including several final tables – in Austria as well as in his native Germany. In 2007, he went deep in the EPT €5K Main Event in Dortmund, earning better than $12K. Marco followed this in 2008 with another command performance in the EPT German Open €7.7K No-Limit Hold ‘em event. He worked his way through a starting field of over 400 competitors to take home 16th place and over $32K. Then in 2009, he took third in the Bregenz Open €2K No-Limit Hold ‘em event, earning almost €50K.

In April 2010, Marco bested 114 players to take down the Salzburg Open - Main Event, for the first prize of €60K ($81K).
