Martin Kabrhel

Since being introduced to the game in 2008, Martin Kabrhel has taken the European poker scene by storm.

Martin began playing poker while studying at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University in Prague. His skill rapidly developed as he used his expertise to understand and analyze the logical and mathematical aspects of poker.

In October 2009 he picked up his first big win, beating 200 players in the €4,000 No-Limit Hold ’em event at the European Poker Championship in Baden, Austria, to pocket over €190,000 ($278,000).

This was closely followed by three impressive EPT performances. The first came in November 2009 at EPT Vilamoure, in Portugal, where he won the €2,000 No-Limit Hold ‘em High Roller event, walking away with €58,000 ($86,500). Less than a month later, in his hometown at EPT Prague, Martin took first prize again in the €2,000 No-Limit Hold ‘em High Roller event, picking up €100,000 ($150,000).

In January 2010, his success continued at EPT in Deauville, France, where he outlasted the field in the €20,000 No-Limit Hold ‘em tournament to take home €250,000 ($353,664). These performances resulted in a third place finish in the EPT Player of the Year.

According to Martin, logical thinking and the ability to analyze problems are the most important skills for poker players. He prefers tournaments over cash games, as he finds them more creative, interesting and dynamic, and, as his success illustrates, his preferred game is No-Limit Hold ’em.

Martin lives in Prague with his girlfriend and their daughter, and when he’s not playing poker he relaxes by playing sports.
