The Million Pound Challenge Experience
The Million Pound Challenge wasn’t just another poker tournament; it was a poker playing experience like none other.
80 online qualifiers won their way to the Hellenic Centre in London on September 16th, 2008, with $1,000 spending money in their pockets. Team Full Tilt members Andy Bloch, Chris Ferguson, Phil Ivey and Allen Cunningham mingled with the crowd, as did Full Tilt Poker pro Roland De Wolfe and Hendon Mob members Joe Beevers and Barny Boatman. The 80 qualifiers then took to their seats and spent the day playing down to a final table of six.
The following day, the remaining six players had breakfast with the pros and then the final table was played out. Adam Noone emerged as the winner and then had the chance to play Phil, Chris and Roland for the £1 million grand prize.
Adam got the benefit of some serious coaching before heads-up play started, with advice from Andy, Barny and Allen. The coaching worked, with Adam winning his heads-up matches against Phil and Chris. However, he just missed out on winning the £1,000,000 when he was beaten by Roland in their heads-up match, but still went home happy with £200,000.
If you are resident in the UK or Ireland, watch out for the Million Pound Challenge on SKY TV in 2009, when the final table and heads-up matches of this unique poker experience will be broadcast.
