ANSWER FROM Gary Jones: Not much anymore, I have faded back. I used to play in spurts, 60-70 hours a week few a couple of weeks then nothing for a month

ANSWER FROM Gary Jones: Used to be for fun, last couple of years more as a job. I was always good at finding other ways to distract myself. Big film fan so I could watch films for a week to get away from it. Or perhaps a TV series or something else.

ANSWER FROM Gary Jones: Yes - the only time I wouldn't do that is if I am at a really weak table and think I have a huge edge (which is unlikely the higher up you go) I would take 50-50 in the right situation

ANSWER FROM Gary Jones: Very little - I put it in an awful lot of time playing and learning that way. The maths and the main parts of the game came easily to me, studying my own game comes more from self reflection rather than hard study

ANSWER FROM Gary Jones: I don't think its a bad strategy if you have very good big stack skills. But long term I don't think throwing it in is a good idea unless you are world class with a big edge in the later parts of the tournament

ANSWER FROM Gary Jones: I did a lot of commentating for Full Tilt in the UK over a couple of year period, that plus winning about 1.5mil over 6moths on here about the same time was why

ANSWER FROM Gary Jones: I was on call for a well paid job for about a month and playing poker full time in about 2000. Made good money all round and never looked back

ANSWER FROM Gary Jones: We don't really talk about our deals as everyone has different. Not nice if one has a better deal than another so we tend to not talk about it

ANSWER FROM Gary Jones: Its usually part of signing up. Getting an account by referal from a friend or website is the best way. Quite hard to get rakeback after you have started an account I think

ANSWER FROM Gary Jones: You might not want to talk to me if I tell you that I am an LFC supporter. :) I won about 1.5mil US in 2007 and came 17th in the main event of the WSOP in 2004.

ANSWER FROM Gary Jones: I think as long as there are ego's in poker there will be HU poker. Might not be easy to get a game, but people always like to beat someone head's up

ANSWER FROM Gary Jones: The hand that crippled me in 2004, but it wasn't much of a bad beat statistically, but it hurt the most. And most would say it was my own fault the way I played it
QUESTION FROM Gah Rivered: (Tournament NLHE) Do you prefer deepstack play, shortstacked play, or something in the middle? (I don't mean would you rather have more or less than the average, I mean would you rather have the average be large or small relative to the blinds?)
ANSWER FROM Gary Jones: Deepstack, the play on the turn and river is the real art of poker. Shortstack is easy, could teach a monkey to play a shortstack.

ANSWER FROM Gary Jones: The guy is like a motzart to poker. Prodigy. I don't think you could learn the gifts he has.

ANSWER FROM Gary Jones: I commentated one of the seasons of Late Night Poker, poker million. I played in the early days of LNP too.
QUESTION FROM goodhanded: Hi Gary......how do you manage to fold when you have a pair plus a four card fush after the flop and faced with an all-in??
ANSWER FROM Gary Jones: With difficulty... Sometimes you have to die with the hand, but if you give your opponent a set, you just aren't getting your odds and should fold. Depends on how strong your read is.

ANSWER FROM Gary Jones: Small games are very hard, play tight, its the only way to go

ANSWER FROM Gary Jones: Full sympathy. And the tournament is so long. You can play out of your skin for a week and lose out to something that you have no control over. But that's the game we play

ANSWER FROM Gary Jones: They both have different skills. I think if you know your strengths you should play to them. Discipline is the main ingredient a cash game player has to have that a tournament player doesn't need so much

ANSWER FROM Gary Jones: I love the $10 + rebuy tournaments at that level. But it might put a strain on the bankroll. If you can afford to go broke a couple of times, thats where I would start. Or the super stack $10 competitions.
