An Exciting Day Ahead

Posted by Jay Greenspan

We’ve got an incredible day of poker ahead of us. By 2:00 pm today there will be three tournaments running in the Rio’s massive poker room.

Day 2 of the $1,500 limit tournament commences, with Phil Ivey and Greg (FBT) Mueller among the chip leaders. Several other Full Tilters have healthy stacks.

The $2,500 short-handed no-limit event starts today. This one is a favorite among the pros, as six-handed play forces the action and requires players to involve themselves in a lot more hands. I discussed the event with Andy Bloch yesterday, and he commented that when playing short-handed, “you’re never in early position.”

The third event is going to be the real thriller: the final table of the $1,500 pot-limit event. Two Full Tilters are among the final nine. The great John Juanda will go for his fourth WSOP bracelet. He starts the day fourth in chips, with 147,000. Rafe Furst will start the day in third chip position, with 222,000. This is Furst’s first WSOP final table.

Stay tuned.
