In the next six weeks I’m planning on playing every day, which hopefully doesn’t mean every event because I hope to make a couple Day Twos and some Day Threes. If I do that I’m obviously going to miss the next day’s event. Yesterday I made Day Two of the pot-limit hold’em tournament, the second event of the Series. But I was so short-stacked I decided to play in the $1,500 Limit Hold’em event as well, and I went broke in two hours in that event.
In the $1,500 Limit Hold’em event I had aces full beat by four sevens, which would have been a jackpot hand had I been playing in a cash game. I got down to $50, then built it up to $600, then went broke when my pocket jacks made a straight and lost to tens full of nines. It obviously wasn’t my day in the Limit Hold’em event, but I am hoping all that bad luck’s out of my system and it bodes well for today’s event.
In the Pot-Limit event I’ve been short-stacked the whole time. I had a couple runs where I got my chips up pretty big, but right now I am critically short-stacked. I have 8,000 in chips and they just moved the blinds up to 1,000 and 2,000. A pot-limit raise at this table is a raise to 7,000 so I will be completely pot committed for any kind of raise. The next hand I get involved in I will be all in.
[Shortly after posting this blog, Jesus was eliminated from the Pot-Limit Hold’em event. He finished in 61st place.]
