I’ve made four final tables in the last five years at the World Series, and so far my best finish is third. But I really think this is my year. I’ve cleared my entire calendar and I’m planning on playing almost every event over the next seven weeks.

There’s a chance I’ll be a little rusty. I’ve been busy with a number of projects lately and haven’t had a ton of time for poker. But I think the time away from the tables might give me some advantages. I’m well rested and psyched to play. A lot of guys who travel the pro circuit are stuck big time and tired. Not me.

There will be over 2,000 players in today’s event, which is great. I love the big fields, but I know that making it to a final table is going to be really tough. Getting through a field this size is like jumping off a Humvee on one side of Somalia and trying to run to the other side of the country: You’re going to have to skip over a lot of land minds to get there safely.
