The 2006 WSOP Begins

Posted by Kristy Gazes

My number one goal for this year’s WSOP is to win the $50,000 buy-in HORSE event. That shouldn’t be much of a problem. After I put on the bracelet, I’ll take a nice long vacation.

If somehow I don’t win the biggest buy-in event in the history of the WSOP, I can work on my second goal — improving on last year’s results. I played in 18 events in the 2005 WSOP, and I didn’t cash in a single one of them. That was draining – in more ways than one.

By the time I busted out of the Main Event last year, I was pretty exhausted. I played in cash games most days when I wasn’t in a tournament. This year, I’m going to manage my time a little better and give myself some breaks. I’ve picked 18 events that I’ll play in. In between events I’ll take some time off, maybe as much as three or four days in a row. That should help me stay fresh.

Today I’ll be playing in the $1,500 NLHE tournament. Wish me luck.
