I turned 36 yesterday, and I decided to take a couple of days off from poker to play a few rounds of golf. I’ve been playing great golf and I look forward to getting Erick and Daniel on the course.
I feel good going into today’s $2500 event. I’ve got my money in good in every tournament so far; now I just need to catch a few cards.
Also, I just got a galley of my new book: The Little Blue Book of Texas Hold ‘em. I’m really proud of it. My first strategy book, The Little Green Book of Texas Hold ‘em, was mostly theory. This time, I’ve examined 75 real-life hands. I set the situation up, show a picture of the table, including stack sizes, and describe all the actions. Then I tell you what I did and the reasoning behind it.
I didn’t play well in all the hands that I chose for the book, but some of the most instructive hands are the ones where you screw up. Some of the best hands in the book are ones where I played like a moron.
