I took a quick exit form the $5,000 no-limit tournament today. I’d talk about the hand that took me out, but there’s really nothing to be learned from it. Just a bad beat.
My results so far may not show it, but I think I’m playing better than I ever have. I feel great. The exception being the two limit hold ‘em events, where I felt a little rusty.
Outside the WSOP, I only play high buy-in tournaments, and for the last couple of years those have all been no-limit hold ‘em. This year, it seems that a lot of the people playing the limit hold ‘em tournaments learned the game while playing no-limit. They’re calling raises with hands like suited connectors, which can have pretty good value in no-limit games. But in limit, these hand don’t play well at all. My opponents also seemed willing to fold some hands where they should have been calling. It’s going to take me a little more time to adjust and feel comfortable.
I felt great in the Omaha hi-low split tournament yesterday, and I’m looking forward to Seven Stud tomorrow.
