I’m Done For the Day…
…but that doesn’t mean I’m out!
Finally. Finally, I did something I can talk about. Today was the start of the $2,000 No-Limit Shootout, and I won my table. I had a very big chip lead on my opponent heading into heads-up play. He might have been down to about three or four thousand. We were heads up for a little over an hour. I felt pretty confident.
I like shootouts. They really aren’t that much different than a regular tournament except there’s much more short-handed play involved in a shootout. It emphasizes short-handed play. This is very similar to a six-handed tournament.
Coming in, I assumed there would be full tables. Most places would do it where they started with full tables and then they have an odd number of players later. I actually don’t mind the way they did it, starting out six-handed, because you’re guaranteed ten at the final table and you’re guaranteed 100 in the second round. They could have done it a little better by having nine at the final table and nine in the second round and then you might have eight-handed tables in this round. That would probably have been the ideal situation.
I thought I played well today. I’m happy, and I’m going to take a nap.
