Mike Congratulates Andy
Andy Bloch is in the house.
A week ago, Andy could walk the halls of the Rio in relative anonymity. Not today. Everywhere he goes someone intercepts him to congratulate him on his heroic second-place finish in the $50,000 HORSE event. One of his most enthusiastic supporters was Mike Matusow (he must have had big money on Andy) who ran up and hugged Andy when Andy entered the Full Tilt lounge at the crack of noon today.
MM: Chip was supposed to win it because it’s good for poker. It’s just the way Moneymaker won. Moneymaker only won so we could all get rich. For Chip to win it was very good for poker.
AB: Everyone calls him the best all-around poker player in the world—
MM: To win a tournament like this makes it look great for poker. That’s why he [Chip] won. No one understands this. Not to mention, the rich get richer, the poor get poorer. [To Andy] It looked like you played as good as you were capable of playing from what I was reading.
AB: I tell people how many times I had him all in—
MM: How many times?
AB: Four.
MM: Man, how many hours did you sleep yesterday. You must have slept for hours and hours. You’re probably still pretty beat.
AB: No, I’m fine now.
MM: You probably played the best you’ve ever played, right? I was reading about it, and it looked like you really had great patience. You weren’t forcing anything.
[Andy shrugs.]
MM: I was worried about you playing big pots a little because I know how you—
AB: Well, heads up you don’t really want to play big pots.
MM: Right.
AB: He was the one though who made me play those big pots.
MM: Well, I knew a big pot was going to come.
AB: The one I hated calling was the nines.
MM: The 9-7?
AB: No, the last one. I didn’t want to call him.
MM: You’re still 62-38.
AB: I knew I was bad.
