A quick razz update. With 16 players left Team Full Tilt is going strong. Perry Friedman is still alive with $22,700, Eric Froelich has $24,000, and Carlos Mortensen is in great shape with $85,000. I just watched as Carlos made a wheel with A-2-3 in the hole to eliminate a player. To say the least, in razz a wheel is, uh, a pretty good hand.
My favorite moment of the day. I was in the Milwaukee’s Best Light Garage catching up with an old friend when the entire team of Milwaukee’s Best Light girls sashayed into the room. There were easily identified by their team uniform: skimpy denim shorts, tight white half shirt, white socks, work boots, and tool belt. The girls headed straight for the large chest that doubles as their communal locker, and they started pulling out purses and backpacks. Must be break time, I was thinking when, suddenly, en masse the girls started removing their tops and changing into street clothes, completely oblivious to the leering gazes of the men drinking beer in the bar area. Sure, they were still wearing their bras, but the moment still provoked flashbacks to my teenage years when every other night the Swedish Bikini Team invaded my dreams.
You know how while playing at the poker table and two guys start jawing you get the sense that they’re about two seconds away from throwing punches but it never actually happens? Well, today it did. Sort of. Two guys developed some unidentified beef inside the Amazon Room about ten minutes ago, and after the usual back and forth the famed words, “Let’s take this outside,” were uttered. And so they did. After jawing at each other all the way down the ridiculously long hallway that leads to the entrance/exit of the Convention Center, they squared off just outside the doors in plain sight of all the players heading to the casino on their dinner break. One of them was identified as “a solid player who once won a tournament at the Bike and who hangs with Jerry Buss on occasion.” The other was a nobody. No punches have actually been thrown. Yet. They’re still out there arguing.
