I caught up with Perry Friedman in the Full Tilt lounge this afternoon. He seemed to be in good spirits despite having played several long days of poker without any financial rewards to show for it.
SR: How’s your Series gone so far?
PF: So far I have either wasted a lot of time at the tables or no time at all. I’ve gone out quickly in a few events and gone fairly deep in a few but still no cashes yet. I’ve played in two tournaments, Stud and Omaha High-Low, where I outlasted three-quarters, maybe eighty percent, of the field and not cashed. I didn’t get close enough to the bubble for it to be worth crying about, but it was still a waste of a long day. Hopefully, that will change Saturday in the Omaha High-Low.
Last year, I probably made the dinner break ten times and only cashed once but it was a big cash, so it was worthwhile. I finished third in the $2,000 No-Limit tournament.
SR: Are you here for the entire Series?
PF: Actually, I am going to be gone most of this week. After today, I am taking the rest of the week off, then coming back Saturday.
SR: Are you definitely playing in the main event?
PF: Not definitely. It’s about fifty-fifty whether or not I play in the main event. If I don’t cash in any events, I’ll probably take the main event off.
SR: How about the HORSE event?
PF: No, that’s a little too much money for me to spend on a single tournament. [Laughs.] I’m planning on winning the Rochambeau event.
