#018 - FTOPS #3 Update E - Punched in the Stomach

Posted by Michael Craig

I busted in 759th just a few minutes ago and I’m taking a 2-hour break from the tourney coverage. With the chip average at 9,000, I had abut 6,500. With 170-340 blinds, I had 8-8 on the button. It was folded me and I raised to 900. The big blind, with a big stack, called. The flop was Jd-5h-8h. I flopped a set, though I was vulnerable to a flush draw. I bet 1,200. He moved all-in for 12,000. I called, of course.

He had Th-4h. He never got there with the flush but the turn and river of 9d-7s gave him a straight.

I’ve got plenty more to talk about, and that’s the last you’ll hear about my tale of woe … in this tournament … in this post. I’ll be playing the $30,000 Guarantee Six-Handed event later on, and will keep covering the tournament. They are just short of the third break, down to 675. Average chips are 12,244. Huck Seed leads the FTP pro contingent (now numbing just three) with 14,000. Clonie Gowen, a terrific survivor in online tournaments, has 8,000, which is probably the closest she has been to the average in an hour. Roland de Wolfe is down to 7,153. I outlasted Toto Leonidas and Andy Bloch, and busted just before Phil Gordon.
