#037 – FTOPS #6 Wrap-Up/FTOPS #7 Preview

Posted by Michael Craig

Tonight’s event is relatively new territory for Full Tilt Poker, No-Limit Hold ‘Em but with $200 rebuys. As with the PLO rebuy event, the initial entries soared over the guarantee, which will of course lead to a prize pool several times that of the guarantee. Expect the pool to triple from its initial size. Tonight’s host is Allen Cunningham, who has been threatening to do some damage in the FTOPS , and may be positioned to snag a big prize.

I have just one Allen Cunningham story. (The next words I say to Allen Cunningham will be the first, same with the next words he says to me. Nevertheless, after he busted in fourth place from the Main Event, media director Nolan Dalla asked me if I knew whether Allen would say anything to the media. I knew enough to say, “Probably not.”) Allen keeps his poker awards in a closet. He and Melissa have a small terrier, who loves to grab one his World Series bracelets and run through the house with it while they give chase.

Maybe the moral of the story is that it’s hard holding on to a bracelet, even after you win it.

Here is how they finished in the Omaha EOB event last night:

1. CaseyTheKid – $29,700

2. dirty_snowmen – $18,414

3. jecimd – $13,365

4. Pronga80 – $10,395

5. Boosted J – $7,722

6. dabigbird – $5,643

7. incha – $3,682.80

8. mildred53 – $2,970

9. DaBroWitDaFri – $2,316.60

I’m playing in tonight’s event, which I expect will cost me at least $600. To write it off as a business expense, I’m going to write about tonight’s FTOPS primarily from my perspective. If that looks like it’s going to be any good.

You’ll have to check out the next entry to see.
