#055 – FTOPS Main Event D – Bubblicious
The bubble recently popped in the Main Event and players have been racing for the exits. They pay 459, a level that was reached about 10 minutes ago. As I type this, there are just 371 left. There are 4 Full Tilt Poker pros still in action with 15 minutes until the break. Mark Vos is near the lead with 160,000. Paul Wolfe has 60,000. Layne Flack has 53,000. Chris Ferguson has 30,000. The average is about 45,000.

CLONIE GOWEN ON THE TILT-A-WHIRL
Clonie busted in 738th, short of the money. She was short stacked, with about 8,000, when the button raised to 2,400. (This was at the 300-600 level.) She pushed all-in. The big blind ALSO pushed all-in, for 22,000. Then the original raiser on the button, with 31,000 in chips, called.
Clonie had 2-2. The big blind, who pushed in over 20,000, had A-Q. The button raiser had K-K.
The flop came 4h-5d-3d. As Clonie yelled, “I’m still alive, ace!” the turn was a deuce for a set (which made a straight for the A-Q) and the river was another four, for a full house.
Clonie tripled up to 25,000. It looked like she was going to triple up again when she CALLED all-in in a three-way pot holding A-A. The other stacks had K-K and 6-6. The pot was worth 77,000, but a king on the river eliminated her.
A friend trying to console her – Clonie got over it in about 2 minutes, but it was really a punch in the stomach, almost getting 5th chip position with 700 left and being eliminated – reminded her that it evens out, that she had that hand where she beat T-T with 7-7. I was, likewise ready to be a good friend and remind her as well about the 2-2 against K-K and A-Q, but maybe she didn’t need that many friends piling on.
FERGUSON’S BRUSH WITH THE RAIL
Chris has been plodding along, mostly with below-average chips. With about 650 players left, Chris doubled up with 5-5. His all-in bet was called by A-T. The A-T not only failed to improve but Chris made a set on the river to emphasize the enduring charm of Presto. This brought him up to 30,000 chips. On the next hand, in the small blind, it was folded around and Chris pushed all-in. The big blind, with 10,000 chips left, called with A-J. Chris had 9-8o and failed to improve, knocking him back down to 19,000.
All-in with 9-8o? The rail thought Chris was giving away his chips.
