I’m starting this at 12:20 AM EST. The players in the PLO with rebuys have been at it for 3 hours 15 minutes. I busted long ago, not just from this event but also from the $35,000 Guarantee. I’m trying to get myself eliminated from the $30,000 Guarantee at this moment. Someone is following me around telling me how bad I am and, apparently, I’m trying to prove it to him.
At the break, there were 110 players left in FTOPS #4. Average chips were 30,727. The leader had 114,000. Fourth in chips was Jon Bloch, Andy’s brother. His avatar is, of course, the rock. If he wins this but doesn’t get his own avatar, he should at least make Full Tilt put a cowboy hat on it. Stuart Paterson leads the Full Tilt pros with 73,000 chips, in sixth place. Alan Cunningham has 42,000 chips, Paul Wolfe, 27,000 [Paul has since busted], Huck Seed, 23,000.

The Further Adventures of Huckleberry Seed
When I left you last night, Seed was hanging on with below-average chips, maneuvering his stack, and avoiding showdowns. I spent an evening with Huck and Ted Forrest talking about Razz last summer, and Huck’s main message was this:
Don’t play hands when you can steal.
At one point, he talked about hypothetically throwing away A-2-3 in Razz against a raise and re-raise when at a table where he could steal with impunity. (Ted Forrest wisecracked, “I guess I’m not as good a Razz player as you. I don’t think I could throw away A-2-3.”)

The tournament is on break with 143 players remaining. Players busting around now receive $743.85. Huckleberry Seed is, as in FTOPS #1, the last remaining Full Tilt pro in the field. The average chip stack is 58,000. The leader has 273,000.

I busted in 759th just a few minutes ago and I’m taking a 2-hour break from the tourney coverage. With the chip average at 9,000, I had abut 6,500. With 170-340 blinds, I had 8-8 on the button. It was folded me and I raised to 900. The big blind, with a big stack, called. The flop was Jd-5h-8h. I flopped a set, though I was vulnerable to a flush draw. I bet 1,200. He moved all-in for 12,000. I called, of course.

We’re at the second break in FTOPS #3, NLHE. We’ve seen off half the field. There are 1,314 players remaining. The average chip count is 6,289. I have finally peeked above the average, with 6,720.
Roland de Wolfe leads the pros with 19,153, in 14th place. He spent much of the last hour in second place. Huckleberry Seed, after spending a long time with 12,000 chips, is over 14,000. Andy Bloch, after spending an equal amount with 9,000, is third among the Full Tilt pros, is over 12,000.

It’s the first break in the third FTOPS event, $300 + $22 No-Limit Texas Hold ‘Em. In my previous two entries, I explained how both Erick Lindgren and Mike Matusow busted. Contrary to what some people think, I have the same access to this information as everybody else watching. (It would be unfair if I had more because I’m playing the tournament, and a simple look at how I called off a quarter of my stack with A-rag against a flush will demonstrate that, whatever it is I’m looking at, it ain’t the other guy’s cards.)
I simply looked at their tables and they busted soon after I arrived.
I decided to check out Phil Gordon’s table. Phil has some chips (5,723) and is writing at least as much as I am about the tournament. The rail is asking him to conduct a seminar on various aspects of No-Limit Hold ‘Em play and Phil is obliging.
THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY!

Just 40 minutes in, after acquiring a good stack, Mike Matusow has busted. This is one bad beat story that starts with ”I had Ks-7s ….”

Erick Lindgren, host of today’s event, has busted in 2,606th place out of 2,755. With blinds of 20-40, he limped with A-A in middle position. Another player, in late position, raised to 155. The small blind called with 5h-6h.

With 31 players left, I IMed tournament director Disco Stu and picked my HORSE: Lichti42. Lich had a lot of chips and, according to the web sites that are popping up to track such things, success in the HORSE event. He (keeping in mind that I have no idea whether any of these competiors are male, female, chimpanzee, rock, or lizard) won the Sunday HORSE on January 21 and finished third on December 17.

… and I’m no longer a part of it.
I busted in 105th just before the fourth break. I outlasted, by only a few minutes, Stuart Paterson, Aaron Bartley, and Erik Seidel. David Chiu is the lone Full Tilt Pro in the field. Chiu has World Series bracelets in three of the five components of HORSE – hold ‘em, stud, and Omaha. I hope for his opponents’ sake, they can take advantage of his obvious weaknesses in razz and stud eight-or-better. I busted David Chiu out of the Sunday HORSE several months ago, winning $200 and a tee shirt that I’ll wear until it rots off my back.
