#144 - FTOPS 9C - Paid to Face the Firing Squad
We’re at the third break, three hours and fifteen minutes in. The chip leader, Bejaysus, has 68,000 chips. I’m 12th with 42,000. There are 277 left, with an average of nearly 20,000. It’s going to take a little more than double that to have average chips when we get into the money. So if I stay where I am, I’ll make the money with about average chips.
But it never works like that.
Imper1um is stil strong with 34,000, in 39th place. Berry Johnson has 17,000 and Stu Paterson, low on chips for a long time, remains patient with 10,000.
I’m playing WAY fewer hands than usual, and people are still making plays at me. I’ve gotten most of my chips making marginal calls against players trying to make moves. In fact, I make a lot of very smart marginal plays, but they rarely involve someone saying “good fold” after.
So, what, about six, seven hours to go? It’s HARD to play good.
