#192 – WSOP #41 – Such a Busy Time (and it’s not letting up)

Posted by Michael Craig

I just finished the STRATEGY GUIDE tournament on Full Tilt (actually, quite awhile ago) and wrapped up three hours of a Pro Chat. I answered a couple hundred questions and apologize for not getting to them all. I’ll talk with the Full Tilt honchos (honchoes?) about doing another scheduled chat. I’ve been busy writing and playing – I’ve been posting as much as I can and I’m still about a half-dozen posts behind. Last night I played in another $1060 Mega Satellite for the Main Event. And I play the $1000 SHOE tonight at 5 PM. I just looked at the schedule for what’s going on now … Holy Cow!

They have the Deuce-to-Seven triple draw table set. (Not to be confused with the $5000-rebuys No Limit Deuce to Seven.) Andy Bloch bubbled on the final table, finishing 7th. Chris Ferguson (who was hoping for a deuce-to-seven chapter in the book so he could LEARN from it) and Steve Z finished in the top 15. Tom Schneider, who I know through Robert Goldfarb and Casino Arizona, won his SECOND bracelet yesterday, in Stud EOB. Phenomenal. And it couldn’t happen to a nicer, or more skilled, guy.

So for today, there is the following: final table in 2-to-7. Final table in the $2000 NLHE. Roland de Wolfe is 5th in chips. I might stop by to see how he’s doing. He’s a great guy and an exciting player to watch. The Grinder is near the chip lead going into day 2 of the gigantic $1500 NLHE event from yesterday.

And they started the PLO World Championship 3 hours ago. I was disappointed to see that Robert Williamson III has busted early. Terrific person, immensely talented player. In fact, I have selfish reasons for being concern about the early bustouts of Robert, Marcel Luske, Jeff Madsen, etc.: They are going to show up in my little event, the $1000 SHOE, looking to cut someone up.

I’m only playing that event as a defense to the $1000-rebuy NLHE tomorrow. If I can manage to last the night, I can avoid any temptation to play tomorrow’s event. I don’t need the all-star team descending on me all pissed-off.

My goal is to last the night in SHOE. Catch up on some entries in any event. Play Tuesday’s $1500 LHE Shoot-out. Attend as many parties as I can before the Main Event. Then play the Main. I’m leaning toward playing the last first-day session, Monday, July 9.
