#210 – WSOP #59 – Final Sunday at the Whirled Series
I can’t believe everything that’s going on. We’re down to 36 in the Main Event. Full Tilt has its $1 Million Guarantee at 3 PM PDT. I just learned – it’s in the “private” tournament section – Bad Beat on Cancer has a $5 + $5 tournament at 3 PM. (The password to play is “badbeat.”)
And then there’s Matusow ….
Mike Matusow made the final table of the Bellagio Cup WPT. His streak of annual WSOP final tables ends at eight, but he had a strong Series nevertheless. He got deep a couple times, 11th in a no-limit hold ‘em event and in the money in the $50,000 HORSE. And there were a couple others where he had a lot of chips late and got pole-axed by the deck.
With the Series reaching its climax and the Bellagio Cup moved from the Fantana Bar to Bellagio’s convention center, the event hasn’t been receiving much attention. But that’s going to change when it gets on TV if Mike Matusow wins it.
So where am I going to be during this? Add to the equation that I am overdue on TWO magazine deadlines, but about a zillion blogs behind. And first prize in the Million Dollar Guarantee is the tidy sum of $184,000. Even for Mr. Two-Final-Tables-Which-Counts-For-Squat-in-the-Full-Tilt-Pro-Universe-Because-They-Weren’t-Televised, $184,000 means something.
