#257 – London Journal #22 – Last Night in London, Part F – Roland de Wolfe has Stolen Ted Forrest’s Cell Phone!

Posted by Michael Craig

As a demonstration of how much I like Roland de Wolfe, I’m going to forgive him any complicity in the criminal schemes I am about to describe. And I expect he likes me enough to forego a lawsuit if I have misread the circumstantial evidence.

I have probable cause to believe that Roland de Wolfe has stolen Ted Forrest’s cell phone.

#256 – London Journal #21 – Last Night in London, Part E – Hungry Like de Wolfe

Posted by Michael Craig

The sound system at Little Italy pounded out a playlist of the same 9 songs from the Eighties at over 100 decibels, but about 10% faster than they were meant to be played. I predicted within one minute that we would hear “Hungry Like the Wolf” and I was proven correct within 20 minutes. (I’d have been right with my next picks as well, “Rock Me Amadeus” and “She Blinded Me with Science,” but there was no one to bet against.)

#255 – Pray for Eyebrows, or Is Laughter Now Only the Fourth Best Medicine?

Posted by Michael Craig

[I'm interrupting the report of my last night in London, as well as the numerous items still unwritten from my London adventures, to update everyone about my wife Jo Anne. But rest assured, (1) she's fine, and (2) the London posts will keep rolling out at a rate of approximately one per day for the next several days, and then as quickly as I can write them.]

I’ve gotten many e-mails and had countless players ask me on Full Tilt about my wife Jo Anne’s condition. Things are great and if she doesn’t kill me, we’re going to make it through cancer just fine. Her chemotherapy starts about one hour after the time I’m writing this, on Friday, September 28. She will have one session every three weeks, eight sessions in all.

#254 – London Journal #20 – Last Night in London, Part D – Patrik Antonius is too Cool for this Planet

Posted by Michael Craig

Patrik Antonius was part of our group and he probably wouldn’t have minded if the bouncer refused him entry. For this place, his shoulders were too broad, his jaw was too chiseled, and it was far too likely that he had his original vision and teeth.

#253 – London Journal #19 – Last Night in London, Part C – Night Club Fantasy Camp, or Lederer is Still Hungry

Posted by Michael Craig

After the end of the Million Dollar Cash Game, we wandered around Soho looking for a restaurant, settling at a strange restaurant at midnight named Little Italy. We had a dozen in our party and the long meal gave me an opportunity to think about how the day went for several of the players.

#252 – London Journal #18 – Last Night in London, Part B – I Never Close

Posted by Michael Craig

While Patrik Antonius – who, by the way, wears a giant Breitling studded with diamonds – and Roland de Wolfe played Chinese Poker in the suite, the rest of us moved out on the balcony to smoke cigars. When we came in, they were still at it and someone also put on the TV, which was showing a documentary about baseball.

Watching a baseball documentary and Chinese Poker in the middle of the night was dreadful business. I love baseball but hate hearing Ken Burns wax ignorant about its charms. And is there anything worse than watching Chinese Poker? And I still have to pack, and I have to catch a ride to the airport in 6 hours.

#251 – London Journal #17 – Last Night in London, Part A – The Passion of Howard Lederer

Posted by Michael Craig

[My last night in London was Wednesday, September 19. I posted 14 items that day about the Million Dollar Cash Game (MDCG). The internet connection went out after post #13/M. I was cursing the loss of connection but even my misfortune had a lucky aspect: the outage occurred right AFTER I posted about the biggest moment of the game, the $807,400 pot won by Phil Ivey over Patrik Antonius. Many interesting things happened after that, and some were summarized in the post I made from Uncle Tilty’s suite at 2 AM and the rest will appear in this series of posts about my last night in London.]

#250N – London Journal #16N – Million Dollar Cash Game #28 – Late Update

Posted by Michael Craig

Sorry about the delay in posting. The internet access in that studio was completely screwed up, as was everything else about the set-up, except for the people being nice. But it’s now 3:10 AM, I’m in Uncle Tilty’s room, and I leave for Gatwick Airport in 6 hours.

Here is a quick summary. I will write the fun stories and more full details after I get back to Scottsdale, which is Thursday night.

#250M – London Journal #16M – Million Dollar Cash Game #27 – Balls Times Infinity

Posted by Michael Craig

I have such a lousy vantage point here that I can’t get the action on any hand until it becomes so important that I hover over the table. So I get the end part. But on this hand, DOUBLE the biggest in the Million Dollar Cash Game, it wasn’t about strategy. It was about balls.

Here is how it went down just before 9 PM:

#250L – London Journal #16L – Million Dollar Cash Game #26 – Take This Job and Bet on It

Posted by Michael Craig

At about 8:20 PM, after the action restarted, it took a few hands but the huge hand seemed to loosen everybody up. Lindgren asked Ivey, “How much would it take for you to get a desk job for a year?”
