#249K – London Journal #15K – Million Dollar Cash Game #11 – Ivey Oozes Composure

Posted by Michael Craig

It’s 9 PM and the players are on a short break as they change the tape. Uncle Tilty leaned into me at the break and whispered, “Ivey told me in that hand against Patrik, he flopped a set of nines.”

Holy crap! So Phil has 9-9 and he gets a flop of Qs-9c-Ac. Patrik has A-4 and hits an ace on the turn to just TIE every dime he has to the hand, but he’s dead to four outs. And then Patrik hits one of them, and Phil probably KNOWS it, but it’s only $60,000 more and any ace but A-Q, A-4, or A-9 (which is almost impossible) and Patrik plays it like this and loses.

I thought Phil Ivey was getting ready to steam when he doubled up Tony G then was unhappy over some accounting and chip movement involving the props and departed players. But the guy obviously has more composure for this than a thousand guys of my level of ability can comprehend.
