#249M – London Journal #15M – Million Dollar Cash Game #13 – The Stakes are Increased … but just for a little while?
At 9:48 PM, Allen raised Brian Townsend all-in after the turn on a board of 2s-Jd-5h-Js, and Brian folded. Phil brought up something about raising the blinds and antes and Tony G quickly championed the cause. Tony emphasized that it would just be for the last hour, though by the time everyone said they’d go along, he asked (I’m sure, rhetorically), “So, does this mean we’re going to play lower tomorrow?”
Yeah, Tony, when the stakes go up “for a little while,” they always go back down as the more conservative players imagined. But no one objected and they switched to $200 antes and $500-$1,000 blinds. Brian Townsend, who has been playing a lot of pots recently, requested another $100,000.
It’s been suggested to me that this may be the biggest live televised cash game, and that’s probably correct. And it’s just gotten a bit bigger, probably NOT for just this last hour.
On the next hand, Chris Ferguson raised Brian’s blind to $3,000 and Brian called. He also called $5,000 on the flop and $14,000 on the turn. He folded, though, when Ferguson bet $35,000 on the river. That’s about $25,000 for Chris, who seemed to have gone forever since winning a pot.
At 9:53 PM, Andy Bloch raised and got calls from the blinds, Brian and Tony. It was checked all the way to the river and the board was 3-4-J (2 hearts)-2h-K. Tony bet $10,000 on the river and Andy called. Tony showed an ace-high heart flush.
But winning the pot wasn’t enough for Tony. He had to get some info from Andy. He started by asking what Andy had. No response. Then he started guessing. No response. Several hands later, he was still reasoning out loud what hand Andy would play that way, checking down but calling $10,000 on the end. But Andy never took the bait.
By 9:53 PM, Tony had other things to occupy him. He called a raise from Brian Townsend, called a bet on a ten-high flop, checked the turn, and called Brian’s $10,000 bet on the river. Brian called out, “ten but not with a good kicker.” Tony showed J-T and took the pot.
I just overheard from Uncle Tilty that Ivey is up $100,000 on the props and Patrik is down a similar amount.
