It’s 10:35 PM. We have wrapped up for today and the producer said we should be here at 11 AM. I have no idea what time that means we start. But toward the end, Phil Ivey made a comeback, taking about $70,000 off Chris Ferguson on the second to last hand of the day.
Phil had pocket aces and got bets on every street, including $50,000 on the river. The board was 3d-6d-5s-5d-Qs. On the very last hand, Phil was under the gun so he put in a $2,000 straddle and ended up taking down the pot. But it was fast so Andy Bloch (who would have been on the button) asked for another hand.
Phil Ivey, the Action God, objected. (It would have been his big blind.) Support ran out and everyone called it a day.
Read the previous 13 posts if you can. If you can’t, here are the highlights:
*Tony G was the king of Day 1. He was behind when he doubled up on Phil Ivey in the biggest pot of the day, and took down a number of other big ones.
* Phil Ivey apparently won at least $100,000 on the props but was down several hundred thousand in the game, having bought in for nearly $500,000 altogether. But he started beating up the table at the end.
* Erick Lindgren was very active early but quit early. He should be back tomorrow.
* Erik Seidel won the second hand of the day with pocket aces, seemed ill, and quit after the dinner break without much more activity.
* Here are the closing chip counts:
Tony G $442,400 – he bought in for $150,000 and had, I think, relatively inconsequential positive prop results.
Allen Cunningham $75,500. (He bought in for $100,000.)
Andy Bloch $57,700. (He bought in for $100,000 and lost $35,000 in chips on the props before quitting those.)
Chris Ferguson $47,100. (He bought in for $100,000.)
Phil Ivey $300,600. (He bought in for $495,000 and is supposed to be UP $100,000 in props on the pencil.)
Patrik Antonius $305,900. (He bought in for $235,000 and I heard earlier he was down $100,000 on the pencil.)
Brian Townsend $190,800. (He bought in for $300,000.)
Come by tomorrow for frequent updates. Howard Lederer will be joining the field and Roland de Wolfe is allegedly going to be joining the action. There is also a rumor that Uncle Tilty may bankroll me in the game if they get more than two seats short, the reasoning being that guys will race from the most distant outposts imaginable for the other seats if I’ve got $100,000 of someone else’s money in a game like this.
