Patrik Antonius and Brian Townsend just played a huge hand and Brian, as has often been the case in this Game, ended up on the losing end.

On a board of 6-5h-Q-Kh, Patrik checked and Brian bet $20,000. Patrik called. The river was a four. Antonius checked and Townsend bet $40,000.

Patrik Antonius thought for a long time. But it looked weird to me. He never looked at his opponent, never gave any outward sign that he was thinking about it. Chris Ferguson actually looked down to make sure he didn’t have cards in front of him and everyone was somehow waiting for him to act. It seemed weird. I didn’t explicitly think, He’s stalling because he has a monster and wants to act like it’s a hard decision, but he sure didn’t LOOK like he was agonizing.

Antonius raised to $150,000. After thinking about it for a long time – real thinking, quite animated – Brian called.

Patrik: “A set.”

Brian, whispering: “Oh fuck.”

Patrik turned over 6-6 and took down the biggest pot of the Million Dollar Cash Game.

Oh, and Phil Ivey just asked for another $300,000.

This happened at 7:40 PM and they went on break for 20 minutes. I’ll try to get chip counts and post them ASAP.
