#250N – London Journal #16N – Million Dollar Cash Game #28 – Late Update

Posted by Michael Craig

Sorry about the delay in posting. The internet access in that studio was completely screwed up, as was everything else about the set-up, except for the people being nice. But it’s now 3:10 AM, I’m in Uncle Tilty’s room, and I leave for Gatwick Airport in 6 hours.

Here is a quick summary. I will write the fun stories and more full details after I get back to Scottsdale, which is Thursday night.

The pot I described between Phil Ivey and Patrik Antonius was the largest in television history, and one of the biggest NLHE pots ever. The official size was $807,400. The thing I didn’t know is those crazy props had a lot to do with the result. There were props-related bets and rules between Phil and Patrik that convinced Patrik that Phil didn’t have the last ace (which Phil didn’t). There may have been reasons related to the props that made it in Antonius’s interest that he see the river card. I’ll try to get to the bottom of that but the point is … props suck. I think Patrik lost more in props today than he lost in that pot. Patrik is in the room right now and he mentioned that he lost over $600,000 in props today.

Erick Lindren left the game and Tony G re-entered. There was a silly trophy given to the biggest winner and Tony apparently wanted it because he climbed back into action.

Tony held on to win the cup. As he was being given the trophy, Roland de Wolfe said, “Are they giving that trophy for the worst haircut?”

Here were the results:

Roland de Wolfe – bought in for $100,000, ended up ahead $16,800.

Howard Lederer – bought in for a total of $200,000, ended up behind $104,300. He was just brutalized by the deck today. I told you before about the hand he lost to Allen Cunningham where he flopped a straight. He lost more than $50,000 to Roland (which is what got Roland healthy because he was down $50,000 before the hand) when Roland made a straight with T-8 on a flop of J-9-7. Howard flopped two-pair.

Brian Townsend – bought in for a total of $500,000 and lost $197,000.

Erick Lindgren – bought in for $100,000 and won $51,400.

Patrik Antonius – He bought in for $485 total and lost $128,900 (plus over $600,000 in props to Ivey).

Phil Ivey – He bought in for $795,000 total and had an unbelievable final three hours. He ended up ahead by $101,100. And, of course, there were the props. The Sun King remains the Sun King.

Chris Ferguson – He bought in for $100,000 and won $62,400.

Andy Bloch – He bought in for $200,000 total and lost $92,200, of which $35,000 of that was props.

Allen Cunningham – bought in for $100,000 and cashed out $47,800 winner.

Erik Seidel – He bought in for $100,000 and won $20,100.

Tony G – He won the trophy, buying in for a total of $150,000 and cashing out a winner of $223,000. ($223,021 including the price of the trophy.)

There were a few more interesting hands and some very amusing stories. I will post those as soon as I can, along with all the other things I owe you.
