I think I may have aged about 20 years in one week. I was actually looking forward to my 49th birthday last week. Good family, good health, the prospect of good work to come – those are at the center of a good life. Somehow, it all collapsed into a pityfest. I’m miserable that Jo Anne has more than two months to go of chemotherapy. I got some infection on my left middle finger – which I need to write and type as well as to gesture. I had to spend a couple hours in the emergency room having them slice it open to drain the puss. Now I’ve got a temperature of 101.5 and I did a couple things I try never to do: unregister for tournaments and not play in tournaments for which I have registered. So apologies to the Blogger Skill Game, a great bunch of guys who were nice enough to ask me to play.
I have some great posts coming: at least one about the Mitchell Report on steroids in major league baseball, one about the WSOP 2008 schedule that just came out, and one about my expected return to tournament poker at the Wynn Classic II in early March.
It kills me not to be able to post them. The Mitchell Report blog, I had to dictate to my computer. Ugh, voice recognition has a long, long way to go. The others have been the subject of much plotting and scheming – I’m sure I’m looking forward to March and June because this is not a great December for me – but I haven’t been able to get them on paper/computer.
I’ll follow up on those things. Promise. It bothers me admitting such a pitiful week – I’ve received so much (some deserved, some just lucky) that I have no right to complain, even now. But I want you to know that I have some stuff coming, and it’s not my way to avoid posting on things that interest me or signing up for tournaments and not playing.
