I’ve heard complaints now and then from pros who feel that TV coverage imposes some burdens on the players. I’ve found most of the complaints more whiny than anything else. Let’s face it, in any line of work, some people like to complain. But today I was a little concerned that the tournament staff were making a pretty big error in order to accommodate the TV production

With 20 players remaining, the tables were running 4-and 5-handed. But the tournament documentation states the following:
Play will move to 8 handed as soon as possible on Day 1, and will remain 8-handed until 36
players remain at which time play will move to 6 handed. There will be a redraw for seating
prior to the commencement of Day 2, Day 3 & Day 4, and when 36 players remain.
I think this change from six- to four-handed could be a huge benefit to some and a massive detriment to others. I made some polite inquiries, but couldn’t find anyone to tell my why the tournament was running the way it was. I wonder if the players’ inexperience has kept them from noticing the change or complaining about it.
If I were a short stack in the field, I would have have made my displeasure known.
