“If that’s a bluff, I’m quitting poker.”

Peter Ling is not the most experience player in the world. That’s not to say he’s playing like a donkey, but he’s doing certain things that are a little transparent to the more experienced players around him. Take this hand for example.

Ling was in the small blind and limped. Alex Kostritsyn raised to 125k from the big blind and Ling called. The flop came 6-6-4, and Ling checked. Kostritsyn bet 155, and Ling started moving chips into the pot. He put forward an amount of about 250, but said “call.” But according to tournament rules, he was required to put in a min-raise, to 310k.

Kostritsyn pounced, raising another 350k.

Now here’s where things get funny. Ling called, and the call left him with less than 400k in his stack. The turn was an Ace and it went check-check. The river was a King and Ling moved in. Kostritsyn just laughed. His pot odds were huge, but how could Ling possible bluff in that spot? He waited a long time, then folded.

That’s when Erik said, “If that’s a bluff, I’m quitting poker.”

Ling was eliminated two hands later. We’re now 3-handed. Erik is clinging to a very short stack. Seidel has 1.8 million; Alexander Kostritsyn has around 5.6; and Michael Chrisanthopoulos has over 8 Million.
