Today is a very busy day in the Poker Room at the Crown Casino. The world’s most expensive tournament—a $100,000 buy-in—started early this afternoon. Not surprisingly, the lineup is phenomenal. Table 3, for example, includes Howard Lederer, Erick Lindgren, Allen Cunningham, Dan Shak, and Phil Ivey. The other tables are no easier.

But I’m going to ignore this premier event so that I can introduce a pro few of you know–Amanda Baker, or as her friends call her, Mandy B.

 Meet Mandy B.

Mandy spent the day playing the freerolll that Full Tilt offered to their online qualifiers and pros. There was a 50k prize pool, with first place taking $20k. An additional bounty was given to the qualifiers for each Full Tilt Pro they eliminated.

Tournament specialists like Andy Bloch and Chris Ferguson were in attendance, as were super high stakes cash players like Nenad Medic and Brad Booth.

But by the time the tournament was down to the final six, Mandy B. was the only pro remaining–and it’ no wonder. She’s clearly competitive. Even in this freeroll, she seemed fully focused. Headphones sat on her ears, and for much of the final table, shades covered her eyes. In general, she was quiet and deliberate. She took her bad beats with the same professionalism she showed while raking a big pot.

Full Tilt signed Mandy as a sponsored pro recently (so recently that she’s not listed on the Full Tilt web site). I think there’s every reason to believe that Mandy is slated for a big year. She’s a proven player and she’s cute as hell. My guess is poker broadcasts will be seeking her out and giving her plenty of airtime.
