The Rest of the Action

Posted by Jay Greenspan

Three-handed play was insane. It was one of the more action-packed final tables I’ve seen. Here are some key moments:

4:50 pm
In a key hand, Erik Seidel was all-in with 2-2 against A-J. The Flop contained a Jack, and Seidel had wait for the 2 on the river to stay alive.

4:55
A huge pot between the chip leaders. Alexander Kostritsyn raised from the button to $150k but was re-raised by Nick the Greek in the big blind to 450k. Kostritsyn called. The flop came 8-7-6, two hearts. Nick checked and Krostrisyn bet 275k. The Greek check-raised to 650k, and he was called. Chrisanthopoulos then bet 1.5 Million on the turn (Ts) and was raised 1.75 million more. Chrisanthopoulos folded.

5:02:
Nick the Greek looses another big pot. He and Seidel were in the blinds (Erik in the SB). Erik checked a flop of 7-7-8, two spades. Erik led at the turn (Th) for 250k and was called. Erik bet 500k on the river and again was called. Erik flopped trips an took the pot.

5:08
Erik put Nick to a decision for his tournament life. Erik check raised on a 8s-Qs-4s flop. Looking frustrated, Nick pushed and Erik called. Erik hand As-Th, so any spade or Ace would win him the pot. But no help and he doubled Nick up.

5:17
Another 2-outer. Erick was all-in preflop against Nick who called a massive re-raise with T-J. Clearly Nicks is succumbing to the pressure. But the flop came T-T-9, and Erik needed a Q on the turn to double up.

5:28
Erik seems dialed in. Erik reraised Kostritsyn’s button raise from the small blind. The flop was Q-high and Erik led at the pot for 600k. Krostrisyn raised it to 1.3 Million. Erik looked concerned, but felt he was ahead and moved in. My feeling is that Krostrisyn had be raising often in these sort of spots and was willing to go with any made hand.

More to come after dinner…

Right after the dinner break:

Three hands in, we had the following hand. Eric Seidel raised on the Button and Nick the Greek called. Krostrisyn re-raised. Seidel folded and Nick moved in. He was called by Krostrisyn, who had TT. Nick had Ac-6c. He didn’t connect, and he’s now out.
