The Russian Attacks
I’ve heard that Alex Kostritsyn, who looks like he’d get ID’s buying cigarettes, plays in the biggest games in Moscow. From what I’ve seen here, I believe it. For the last hour or so, he has really been controlling the action. He took down a massive pot when he ended up all in pre-flop with AA vs. Antonio Casale’s JJ. He then eliminated another player when he flopped top pair while holding AJ.
After winning those hands, he’s been the clear aggressor, raising and re-raising frequently preflop, and putting all the other players, including the other big stack, Michael “the Greek” Chrisanthopoulos, in tough spots.
Erik, meanwhile, has seen his stack diminish. He bluffed on two streets into Peter Ling’s set. Since then, he’s re-raised a couple of times pre-flop and has given away his blinds a few times.
Erik’s stack is just over 1.5M. He and Peter Ling are playing catch up. Erik is clearly choosing his spots carefully. But he can only be so patient now. They’re four-handed, and the blinds are 15k-30k.
