#354 – NBC Heads-Up Championship #5 – Last Year’s Final Table is Gone
After less than 20 minutes of the first stage of the first round, two players have been eliminated. Significantly, year’s final table is gone.
Allen Cunningham got Chad Brown all-in after the river and showed a flush, making the 2007 runner-up the first to fall. Just a few minutes later, on a board of J-8-5-8, Paul Wasicka moved all-in. Freddy Deeb called pretty quickly. During the delay as they waited for the cameras before they could turn over their cards, Freddy seemed less than completely confident, speculating about Paul’s hand.
No need. Freddy had A-J and Paul had T-T. Not only did Wasicka fail to get one of the two remaining tens but Freddy picked up another jack, taking out the defending champion.
Two good players out, but remember who called it in advance. (Me, okay?)
