Seriously, compared with the action that came before, the second round of the Clubs/Spades bracket was not especially exciting. All but one of the matches were over in 70 minutes and the all-in-fest that started 30 minutes in usually featured pretty uneven stacks.

Sorry to interrupt my coverage of the NBC Heads-Up Championship, but you’ll understand why I have to for this story …

An international news story is developing about a man in Las Vegas who has been hospitalized for two weeks in critical condition after staying in a hotel room where the deadly poison ricin was found. I’m reading these stories with a mixture of interest, curiosity, and alarm.

I’m not exaggerating when I say I am laughing out loud as tears stream down my face.

February 29 comes only once every four years. Maybe that means we should expect unusual things to occur. It’s not much of an explanation, but it’s better than “internet poker is rigged” when similar things happen online. Between writing up the information from the Diamonds bracket and, frankly, being stunned by what happened to Phil Hellmuth, it wasn’t until about 6:25 PM, about 75 minutes in, that I really caught up with the action in the Clubs bracket. Six of the eight matches were still going on.
