I spent a couple hours in the afternoon in FTOPS #8, the $100 + $9 NLHE-Rebuy. That means, of course, that I didn’t finish in the money but for me it’s a major victory making it to a break with chips, even if I can replenish them with a hundred bucks. In fact, I rebought zero times (though I did pay for the add-on).

Yesterday, Saturday, featured 2 FTOPS events (nos. 6 & 7). The first was $500 + $35 PLO 6-handed. Checking out the start of the tournament, I saw a familiar name atop the leaderboard, Miss Lulu. In February of last year, with the player’s consent, I revealed Lulu’s identity on Lulu’s way to a 4th place finish in the FTOPS Main Event.

I’m writing this as Event #9, $300 + $22 NLHE, is starting. It’s now 25 minutes old, which means I’ve outlasted my finish in two previous events. I think I’m cursed.

It’s the last two days to win one of two entries into the $200 + $16 NLHE Turbo FTOPS Event #14 on Tuesday, May 13.

To reiterate, the contest is titled “You’re Uncle Tilty” and to win, you have to place yourself at the head of the Full Tilt empire for 60 seconds and change something for the better. All rules and caveats, see my original post announcing the contest.

On Wednesday, Full Tilt held the first event of FTOPS VIII. Despite my vows that this Series would be different from my lame efforts in FTOPS VII (and FTOPS VI, FTOPS V, etc.), the whole experience felt like deja vu.

Among the new features in Full Tilt’s latest update is the Shootout Tournament. And I responded, as is my nature, by winning the very first tournament (at least the first I was aware of) in the new format.

I’m not bragging; that’s just my way.

In my previous post, I described the plan to delay the WSOP Main Event Final Table to November and why I thought it was a good idea. I am not, however, surprised that it has received a lot of criticism.

Poker players like to complain.

Last October, I wrote about a novel idea being considered for the 2008 World Series of Poker: live broadcast of the final table. Both to accomplish this and to capitalize on it, the idea then being considered was to (a) stop the Main Event when there were nine players remaining; (b) let ESPN show all the episodes leading up to the final table to build interest and suspense; and (c) reconvene the final nine in the fall to play for the championship on live TV.

Damned if on Thursday, May 1, Jeffrey Pollack & Co. didn’t go and announce they were doing it, though with important modifications.

Time is ticking away on my “You’re Uncle Tilty” contest. With the World Series of Poker changing the final table of the Main Event – that will be my next post, sometime Friday – change is in the air. Tell me what you would change about Full Tilt and maybe win yourself an entry into the $200 + $16 NLHE-Turbo FTOPS event on May 13. For all the rules, check out my original post.

Entries have been brisk, though I have read just one. Although I expected entries focused on features of tournaments or cash games, the entry I read suggested that I be fired as author of The Full Tilt Poker Blog and be replaced by my 16-year-old daughter Ellie. That suggestion came from my Dad.

So as far as I’m concerned, the field is wide open.

A few weeks ago, I bought an Ed Hardy tee shirt with a snarling tiger wearing a bowler. I hadn’t worn it yet so I decided to put it on Wednesday. Henceforth, that will be a Lucky Shirt. I lost a pen recently – a rare occurrence for me – and its replacement arrived, a Visconti Van Gogh. Henceforth, that will be a Lucky Pen. During the uncharacteristic hours of 1:30 PM-5:30 PM – which I guess will be Lucky Time for awhile at least – I won my way into the Main Event of the 2008 World Series of Poker.

Luck was with me.
