#433 - WSOP Notebook #6 - Scenes from the Poker Class Struggle, Part III

Posted by Michael Craig

You will all be relieved to know that VIP Suite has upgraded its food service and is mailing charitable-contribution receipts to members. I can’t take any credit for the changes - I think they were already planning to mail the proper receipts and no one involved in the issue, to my knowledge, read my blog. But people voiced their opinion and Jeffrey Pollack and his staff responded.

To me, that’s far more important (and important to far more people) than whether the platters of veggie wraps are a more reasonable expectation than Doritos for the amount we paid. As I mentioned in Part II of the Poker Class Struggle, Pollack’s team isn’t afraid to try things, isn’t afraid to fail, and isn’t afraid to make mistakes. What really distinguishes them - and this is key to people who are dismissive of the operators of the World Series of Poker and how I can be both critical and appreciative toward them - is that they listen to crticism and respond, either by explaining why they did what they did or by changing what they are doing.
