David Lappin, my friend and contact among the 80 challengers here today, is one of the rapidly-growing list of casualties.

What happened David? “Lost two coin flips. I pushed with pocket jacks and was called by ace-king and lost. Less than a round later, I had pocket fours and, with about 3,000 left, I pushed. I was called by ace-nine and lost that.”

The key strategy here, I suppose, is to learn win your coin flips. “From here on out,” David told me, his parting words, “It’s going to play like a turbo.” (Actually, his parting words were to promote his group of playing friends and their  web site, both called “Dublin Bellybusters.” Lappin will be writing for the site about his shot at the glory.)

It’s 2:45 PM. About 20 players have busted, most of them during this level, which has less than 2 minutes remaining.
