#511 – London 2008 #18 – Million Dollar Cash Game – The Starting Lineup

Posted by Michael Craig

It’s 1:15 PM and the staff at Emblaze Productions is busily readying the set for the third running of the Million Dollar Cash Game. The players have drawn for table positions and this is the starting lineup:

Seat 1 – Patrik Antonius

Seat 2 – Eli Elezra

Seat 3 – Gus Hansen

Seat 4 – David Benyamine

Seat 5 – Tom Dwan

Seat 6 – Phil Hellmuth Jr.

Seat 7 – Phil Ivey

seat 8 – Chris Ferguson

The players have already established, I’ve been told, that they can, on agreement, have a dealer run it twice or three times.

The table set-up, like last year, is blackjack style, which I guess they think is better for television. (It’s actually better for teleVISING, because you presumably need fewer cameras or less movement among cameras with only half the table to cover.) But I don’t think it’s better for poker.

And ya know what? No one asked me.

Most of the players will probably start with $100,000 in chips, though to make it the MILLION DOLLAR cash game, a couple rollers will probably start with more. Of course, once the wins and losses start mounting, the amount on the table will be much more than a million bucks.
